Free NHS Flu Vaccinations
It’s that time of year again so make sure you get yourself vaccinated if you are eligible.
The vaccination not only protects you but also helps to prevent the spreading to vulnerable individuals in the community.
The people listed below are entitled to a free NHS flu vaccination:
- Everyone aged 65 years and over
- Other patients who are considered ‘at risk’ who may have e.g.
- Diabetes
- Chronic heart conditions
- Suffered a stroke
- Asthma
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Chronic kidney disease
- Who have suppressed immune systems due to disease or treatment (including patients undergoing chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, HIV injections at all stages, multiple myeloma or disorders affecting the immune system).
- Chronic neurological disease
- Without a spleen or with reduced spleen function
- Pregnant women
- Who receive a carers allowance or who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill.
- Children between the ages of 2, 3 or 4 years on 31/8/15 – children are vaccinated with a nasal spray rather than an injection. Separate flu clinics are arranged for children in these age groups and are by appointment only with the Practice Nurse.
The vaccinations are available in the Practice from the beginning of October. There will be 3 dedicated main flu clinics where patients can call into the surgery without an appointment to be vaccinated as follows:
Tuesday 6th October & Wednesday 14th October
Session times are as follows:
8.30am | to | 10.30am |
11.00am | to | 12.30pm |
1.30pm | to | 3.00pm |
3.30pm | to | 4.45pm |
5.00pm | to | 6.00pm |
and Thursday 22nd October – session times are as above to 4.45p.m. only as we close at 5.00p.m. on Thursday.
