ELECTONIC PRESCRIBING – GO LIVE 25th NOVEMBER 2015

From 25th November 2015 patients will be able to have their repeat prescriptions sent directly to the pharmacy of their choice.

Patients will still need to tell us what medicines they require by either completing the paper slip attached to the prescription and bringing it to the surgery or via an online message. There is no change to this process.

We will then prepare the prescription request and, in most cases, once it has been signed off by a Doctor it will be sent electronically to the named pharmacy.

In order to use the new system patients need to tell us which pharmacy they want to collect their prescription from. Prescriptions will always be sent to the same pharmacy unless a patient requests this to be changed.

Patients can use the pharmacy which is most convenient for them e.g. one close to work, one close to home, the one attached to the surgery.

Please note that there are some drugs and other prescription items, such as dressings and appliances, which cannot be sent electronically. These prescriptions will still have to be collected from the surgery.

To nominate your preferred pharmacy patients should complete the pro-forma given out with their prescription or tell the receptionist when they next attend the surgery.
